It’s Been a Year. Here’s What a Robot Taught Me About Your Finances.
It’s been a while. For the better part of a year, this space has been quiet, and I want to tell you why.
I became uninspired. I saw AI tools that could write a flawless blog post on "the 5 best ways to save for retirement" in about five seconds. It felt like anything I could write, a machine could write faster and without spelling errors. Why would you need The Free Sparrow when you could just ask a chatbot your financial questions and get an instant, perfect answer?
After stepping away to focus on my clients (and not the blog) I realized AI was missing a huge part of the picture. AI is a phenomenal tool for answering questions, but our biggest financial struggles aren't about a lack of answers.
AI can give you the what. It can write you a budget, explain a Roth IRA, and build a debt-repayment plan. But it cannot give you the how. It can’t give you the stamina to stick to that budget when you’re tired and stressed. It can’t provide the encouragement to keep investing when the market looks scary.
Achieving financial health isn’t like solving a math problem; it’s like training for a marathon. You know the goal is to cross the finish line, but knowing the path isn’t the same as having the endurance to stay on it. Success comes from creating small, new habits and practicing them daily, even when it’s difficult.
This is the real challenge, and it's where a machine falls short. To achieve something that feels monumental, you need three things:
A slow start: Small, manageable changes that build momentum.
Consistent practice: The daily discipline that turns actions into habits. Turning your financial health around is a LONG road, but at some point, the pain will pay off!
A guide: Someone by your side for accountability and perspective.
Society has never prioritized the role of a financial coach. Why? Frankly, the system works better when we keep spending impulsively. It thrives on short-term wants, not long-term wellness.
My goal here was never just to give you the answers you could find anywhere. It’s to be your guide on the path—to help you build the stamina, navigate the obstacles, and finally achieve the financial freedom you deserve. It’s good to be back.
